RAM (Random Access Memory)
RAM Stands for Random Access Memory
RAM is also called main memory or primary storage; it consists of memory chips
that can be read from and written to by the processes and other devices. RAM
varies in size like 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB to 2GB.

primary storage RAM cannot save data permanent. RAM can be read from and
written to by the processer and other devices.
Types
of RAM

SIMM
(ii)
DIMM
(iii)
RIMM
SIMM
This type of RAM power protection
system is called the oldest type. It was used only in Pentium 1. It has two
furthers types
(i)
30
pins
(ii)
72
pins
We can
install this type RAM at 45 into the system
DIMM
This
type of RAM is the most useable and popularly the RAM. It has two major types
(i)
SDRAM
(ii)
DDRRAM
RIMM
This RAM is used in P3 and P4 system. It has 2 cuts in the
middle of it. It has “184” pins in middle.
SDRAM
This type of RAM can be
install P1 to P4. It has 2 cuts and 168 pins.
DDRRAM
DDRRAM Stands for Double
Data Rate Random Access Memory. This type of RAM is the most advanced RAM. It is
used in only P4 system it has only 1 cut and 484 pins.
DDR2
This type of RAM has 192
pins and single cut.
